Satwiksairaj Rankireddy hits the Fastest Smash ever

World no. 3 in mens doubles, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, is a popular Indian shuttler. He recently won the Indonesia Open of 2023 with his fellow shuttler, Chirag Shetty.

This week, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, is again in the news, for creating a world record by hitting the fastest shot in the history of badminton. He hit the shuttlecock at a speed of 565 km/hr to break a 10-year-old record by Malaysian player, Tan Boon Heong. He had produced a speed of 493 km/h (306.34 mph) in 2013 to create a record a decade ago.

To put things into perspective, the fastest one can drive a Formula 1 car is 397.48 km/hour. And, the record for the fastest tennis serve remains at 263 km/hour. Satwiksairaj’s number reveals his strength and determination. 

What did Yonex say about Satwiksairaj's News?

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy added his name to the Guinness Book of World Records at the Yonex factory gymnasium in Soka, Saitama, Japan. The test was conducted in a controlled environment on April 14, 2023. 

In a statement, Yonex team mentioned, "Yonex is proud to announce that Yonex badminton athletes, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy (IND) and Tan Pearly (MAS), have set new Guinness world records title for the fastest male and female badminton hits.”
