NYDHI surveyed India market and found that almost all the retailers are selling counterfeit Mavis 350 shuttlecock. This includes majority of your local retailers in every city, tubes sold by your local stringers, top sellers in Amazon & Flipkart and popular eCommerce stores too. If you think your product is having Sunrise sticker packaging and genuine, you are up for a rude awakening. This is where exactly end customer is getting fooled.
NYDHI wants to educate the customers so they do not fall victim for counterfeit Mavis 350. Here are the few ways to avoid counterfeit products:
1. Price is too good to be true. Business men know customer psychology that customers will always buy the product from retailer who is selling for low price. To keep the price of Mavis 350 low, they are replacing two original shuttlecocks in a tube having 6 pieces with counterfeit shuttlecock.
So, the tube will have 4 original shuttlecock and two counterfeit shuttlecocks. Retailer is making more profit and customers are losing the money. Sometimes the entire tube is counterfeit when customer buys 10 tubes at once.
2. Look at the skirt pattern at the top and the number of holes on the skirt to identify the original ones
3. If the shuttlecock starts wobbling almost immediately or after a game or so, its counterfeit. However, there are exceptions if its starts wobbling after one game. But this should not happen very frequently.
4. These counterfeit shuttlecocks are being sourced from Taiwan. Two or three Taiwan shuttlecock are being mixed with original Mavis 350 shuttlecock in a tube. This counterfeit operation is done by a major retailer at top level and every retailer in India is getting this supply. All retailers knows about this and they are operating like gang of thugs selling inferior products and fooling end customers.
5. Retailers are doing fraud not only in Mavis but also rackets and shoes too.
For example, if Retailer purchases racket for 1000 Rs from distributor, in ten rackets they will mix two fake rackets (which costed him only 200 Rs each) and the retailer will sell these 10 rackets for only 1010 Rs each. This way retailer will sell racket for way cheaper price than competitors and make same profit. Retailers who are selling genuine products will be at loss.
6. At current prices, if customer is getting individual tube for less than 1200 Rs including shipping and credit card fees, most probably its fake.
